About the event

WCG at 50 • Heritage & Legacy: Resurgence of Calligraphy in the USA

Presented by Julian Waters, Founding WCG Member

Thursday, April 16, 7-9pm ET via Zoom (the first half hour is social)

Join us as Julian presents a fascinating overview of Sheila Waters’ career in the USA, the rise of Washington Calligraphers Guild and other calligraphy societies, and how some other international calligraphers made a difference. While Sheila’s teaching and writing influenced hundreds of calligraphers, her own work became freer. Julian also will be talking about design and will discuss how complicated and challenging calligraphy projects can be methodically planned, designed and executed, from rough designs to final art.
