After teaching us the Antiqua alphabet, Andrea Wunderlich will help us play with and transform these versatile Versal letterforms. We'll go step-by-step through the creative process, experimenting with layout ideas. Then comes the spark of gold! We'll learn about some glittering effects, highlight certain areas in our artwork and try a very easy way of gilding.

Level: All. Workshop will be recorded. Andrea will look over participants' work on padlet in between and after classes are held.

Materials: pencil (2H), ruler, eraser, tissue, sketchpad, good quality paper (BFK Rives, watercolor paper, etc.), black paper, tracing paper (70g), broad-edged nibs (Speedball C5-C3), Automatic Pens, gouache (your favorite colors - Andrea likes Schmincke, but you can also use Turner, Winsor & Newton, Linel), brush for mixing, palette, embossing tool, a piece of plastic (e.g. wrapping of a greeting card), lightpad, (if you don't have one, you can tape your small design to a window and trace that way), finetec gold (e.g. inca gold, listed as coliro artist gold and comes in sets or single colors through John Neal Books), bone folder, oil pastels (2-3 favorite colors), gold leaf or brass leaf (also called Schlag metal, available at John Neal Books with the SKU number S904 for $12.99 for 20 sheets).
