Editor Jonathan Homrighausen conceived of this issue as an exhibit of contemporary calligraphy that engages sacred and other texts in thoughtful, artistic ways-- "Creating Words, Creating Worlds." Each work is paired with a commentary exploring the interaction of text and visual form.
