About the event

Pat’s three-session workshop, "Layouts, Lettering & Cherry Blossoms," is a unique opportunity to develop your lettering, layout and painting skills under Pat’s expert guidance. This class will cover the fundamentals of design to create a successful layout that combines lettering and the iconic flower of Washington DC, the Cherry Blossom!
Offered in celebration of the Washington Calligraphers Guild 50th Anniversary, Pat will show us a basic watercolor technique to paint the cherry blossom. Using your favorite calligraphy hand, either broad pen or pointed pen, we will start with exploring ways to create a successful layout. Using pencil sketches, ideas will begin to emerge and develop. The most skilled lettering suffers when not placed thoughtfully on the page!
You will learn:
1. Multiple layout ideas to use with small compositions
