Library of Congress Rare Books Tour
On April 4, 2006, WCG members viewed illuminated manuscripts
housed among the Library’s Rare Book collection,
guided by Daniel De Simone, curator of the Lessing J. Rosenwald Collection,
Rare Book and Special Collections Division, as well as Reference Specialist Clark Evans and Administrative
Officer George Chiassion. Among the
manuscripts and print exemplars were
several 13th and 14th-century Books of Hours, the 1335 Nekcsei-Lipocz
Bible illuminated by Italian artists in Hungary, and the 1621 Schmidt model
book in the 1560 Germanic court tradition of Georg Bosckay.
